I’m in the midst of a new music marathon, with several different albums vying for my attention, all that I’m dying to listen to. At this very moment, though, I’m happily lost in the midst of Sam Prekop’s new solo record,
Old Punch Card. It’s classic avant garde (is that an oxymoron?)—electronic, noise, sounds—a total departure from his previous solo albums and his work with
The Sea & Cake (I totally appreciate when someone says that an album is totally different, and then it
actually is. It’s a much overused description, even by myself.). Although considering the circle of musicians he collaborates with, maybe it's not that much of a surprise...
I cant wait to write my preview for The Sea & Cake’s
Lincoln Hall show next weekend.
